what the heck is ALL MESSED UP?
It's Milwaukee's annual randomized musical experiment that puts musicians together into bands randomly to see what perfect strangers can create together!

♫ There will be four members randomly drawn for each band.
♫ The four of you decide who does what in your band. In fact, you have complete control over all aspects of your band, save for these few rules...
♫ Each band is required to write 15-20 minutes of original material.
♫ Each band is required to perform at least one cover song.
♫ There's registration open, the drawing potluck where we eat random foods and meet our band mates, and the two nights of showcase performances (8 bands each night) Click the boxes below for Details and dates
♫ Depending on the picks, some bands will have potential talent extremes. Whether you are some kind of virtuoso or a novice, you MUST be prepared for the possibility that you will be performing with people of varying abilities, or don't bother registering. If your band ends up drawing 4 trombonists, deal with it! Either learn a new instrument or you make that bone quartet work! That's exactly the point and beauty of All Messed Up.
♫ If a member drops out for any reason, DON'T PANIC. See it instead as an opportunity to collaborate with someone who is not a quitter. Also, there's zero shame in quitting here. Bailing is better than letting your bandmates down due to being unavailable. Quitters are always welcome back next year and encouraged to still come to the shows. If you sign up and just cant make it work-- let a reserve step up and take a shot!
Just hit the CONTACT tab at the top of the webpage and let me know who dropped out and if you want a replacement. I will randomly pick a person off the reserve list to join your band. “Trading” people, or recruiting unsanctioned members is NOT allowed. A band can exist with even just one member if that's how it shakes out. It's happened before.
♫ For promotional purposes, each band must name themselves by THURSDAY, JANUARY 6th, 2025 by 11:59pm. IF YOU DO NOT SUBMIT THIS NAME IN TIME, I will name your band for you. No amount of begging will change my mind. No extensions will be given, and let me tell you, do I have some good ones saved up, SO I AM HOPING that some of you are lazy, or can't get your shit together, or just want to be named by me.
♫ As always, there will be one additional stipulation to be revealed the night of the drawing. This is just a little bonus challenge to keep things fresh and fun.
♫ ONE MORE THING ABOUT CONDUCT: I didn’t want to have to say something like this, but I believe it’s important. There is no room in All Messed Up for toxic, violent behavior toward any individual or groups of individuals. I don’t want to have to be an umpire, I REALLY DO NOT WANT THAT, but the safety of those participating is the most important thing. DON’T screw this up. Be a decent person. Your behavior should never get in the way of everyone else’s enjoyment of this event.

♫ The sign-up is first come, first served. Registration opens October 25th 2024 at midnight/00:00/12:00am. Please don't message me before then trying to sign up.
♫ This event takes place in a bar, and thus, you must be 21 or older to participate. Sorry, young folks.
♫ I will accept up to 64 registrations starting October 25th 2024 for the main roster. Any names after the initial 64 will be put on the list of reserves. More about that below.
♫ REGISTRATIONS MUST NOT INCLUDE:
-What instruments you can or cannot play. Why? Because I don't care! However, your new bandmates will probably be interested.
♫ After 64 people have registered, I will place people on a list of RESERVES. This list will have no order. It will be used, at the request of a band, to replace a member who has dropped out or cannot participate for whatever reason. The reserve list is SUPER IMPORTANT and we often fly through it. People drop out for many reasons and sometimes a reserve really saves a band that is struggling or is the missing piece to the perfect sound/vibe. BE A RESERVE!!
♫ No prior musical experience is necessary, However, wanting to commit the time and energy required to make things work is SUPER necessary. No one will be refused who wants to make the proper effort to make this event happen.

♫ The drawing and potluck for All Messed Up XI will be held at Linneman's Riverwest Inn on Sunday, December 1st 2024 @ 7:00pm.
♫ Everyone is invited to the Drawing, not just the people on the roster. Bring your friends and family. Get them to sign up as reserves. Get them indoctrinated!
♫ I recommend you arrive by 6:30pm, but not earlier than 6pm, because that's when Jim is going to open the bar. That's enough time to get some food and mingle a bit before we get down to business.
♫ I'm going to say it; the success or failure of the potluck mostly depends on YOU. I'm busy planning an event. I'm probably not cooking for all y'all. I will however order a few stacks of pizza's from Ned's, and provide food and napkins- the rest is up to you. Bring a dish to share, or just show up and eat before its gone. You all kill it every year with food so I have faith in you. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
♫ There will be 16 numbered tables in the showroom. Come drawing time, it's fine to sit anywhere, but when we announce the bands, please vacate the tables in order so that the newly-formed bands may sit there and get acquainted.
